The first donation of 2026 has already arrived, and it comes from our next generation of supporters in the Meadville skating community.

This young donor is a third-generation skater and the son of a former state-champion Meadville Bulldog hockey player. It’s a powerful reminder that our local ice sports are more than hobbies — they’re a tradition.

Seeing our youth step up to keep hockey and figure skating thriving shows just how much this community cares. Let’s keep the momentum going in 2026.

In 2025, The Double Sock Foundation continued its mission of helping Meadville youth participate in ice sports by providing financial assistance to local hockey players and figure skaters. The program aims to remove cost barriers so boys and girls can skate, learn, and compete at the Meadville Area Recreation Complex.

This season, the foundation provided support to:

  • 2 figure skaters
  • 10 participants in the Little Penguins nonprofit program
  • 2 CCYHA hockey players
  • 2 players needing equipment assistance

Thanks to donor contributions and community backing, these young athletes were able to stay active in the sports they love, strengthen their skills, and build confidence through play.

Foundation organizers say the demand for assistance continues to grow as more families seek opportunities for their kids to participate in ice sports without financial strain.
